A Special Invitation

April 17, 2016

One of the surprises of 2015 is that while oil and gas prices swooned, global investments in renewable energy hit a record high of $289 billion. Mark that as a major turning point. Even though fossil fuels are as abundant and cheap as ever, world markets have finally recognized that renewables are the future.

Yet the path forward remains foggy – and in some places, smoggy. Clean technologies still only account for about 10% of the world's electricity production, and major obstacles to their development remain. Solar and wind haven't conquered their intermittency problems, and battery technology is advancing at a snail's pace. The COP21 agreement in Paris may have set high goals; but can they really be met? And how can an energy-constrained world accommodate an ever-growing population with ever expanding living standards?

To answer these questions and more, we are assembling some of the smartest people we know at Brainstorm E: Where Energy, Technology and the Environment Meet, May 16 and 17 at the Park Hyatt Aviara Resort in Carlsbad, California. Attendees include auto scion Bill Ford, billionaire investor Jeremy Grantham, construction mogul Brendan Bechtel, and organic food entrepreneur Kimbal Musk.

Attendance is by invitation only, but CEO Daily readers get special consideration. If you are interested, sign up here and then shoot me an email letting me know you've registered. I'll look forward to personally welcoming you.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend.
